Well, you appear to be right about detect magic vs. supernatural abilities. It had language in 3.5e that stated that it had a caster level or spell level based on racial hit dice, but that language was removed in pathfinder ... for some reason... even though that causes a number of problems with the abilities of some monsters when they have supernatural abilities that replicate spells that depend on caster level and/or spell level.

... feh. Whatever.


Blues with psion levels (or levels in any psionic class) would be as powerful as a character of the same level. They're not some hyperpowered super class any more than any other magic user is. The point is that goblins will likely be at least somewhat familiar with magic or something like magic.

Just because they're cowardly doesn't mean they'll be stupid. We don't want to put ourselves in a position to need to use a scare tactic when they can just go "seen it" and retaliate after we make fools of ourselves thinking that the magical equivalent of jingling keys in front of their faces will send them into a panic.



... which is precisely why we need to gather more information about them sooner rather than later. Like, say, under the cover of night.


First of all, there is no official pathfinder changeling. If that's what Wayne is using in this game, that that's different, but as far as I know, he isn't using that version.
... well, okay there is, but it isn't eberron's changeling or anything like eberron's changeling and doesn't really warrant a mention here.

Second, the doppelganger's mimicry allows it to be proficient in all weapons, armor, and shields as well as use spell trigger items and the like. "Perfect Copy" is supernatural and allows the doppelganger to use its supernatural "change shape (alter self)" ability to mimic a specific person. Also, change shape does generally work like polymorph, but in the doppelganger's case, it says in the description (alter self), so specific overrides general rules here.

Third, doppelgangers are exceptionally rare in eberron to the point that it's highly unlikely that we've run across one and if we did, it would likely go to great lengths not to reveal itself as this hybrid did.
